Care & Maintenance of Revesen Wooden Floors

Revesen wooden floors, crafted by a leading manufacturer of high-performance flooring for underfloor heating, add a sense of elegance and uniqueness to any interior. To preserve their durability, visual appeal, and functional value, it is essential to properly maintain the protective finish. With the right care, you can enjoy the natural beauty of your Revesen floors for many years.

General Guidelines

Wood is a hygroscopic material and is sensitive to rapid changes in temperature and humidity. During the winter months, when indoor humidity typically drops, we recommend using humidifiers to maintain an optimal relative humidity level of 50–60%.

Due to natural wood movement, avoid placing airtight materials (e.g., plastic rugs or thick carpets) directly on Revesen wooden flooring. Spilled liquids must be removed immediately to prevent water damage. All furniture legs should be protected with felt or rubber pads, and office chairs should use soft rubber casters. Dirt, sand, and other abrasives should be removed quickly to avoid scratching the surface of the floor.

For maintenance, always use approved cleaning products designed specifically for your type of wooden flooring. Adhering to these guidelines will extend the life of your Revesen wood floors. Please note that fluctuations in indoor climate and the natural behavior of wood are outside the manufacturer’s control and do not constitute valid reasons for warranty claims.

Warranty Guidelines

Floorboard Specifications – Tongue & Groove

  • Tolerances: thickness ±0.5 mm, width ±0.5 mm, length ±1 mm; surface unevenness up to 0.5 mm.

  • Moisture content: 9% (+1% / –3%)

  • Classification: Grading descriptions are available upon request and apply to the top surface only. Natural variations in color and grain direction are allowed. Color differences may occur between batches and deliveries.

  • Characteristics: High hardness, biological durability, acoustic insulation, and natural humidity regulation. The product is non-allergenic.

Installation Guidelines

  • Unpack the flooring only just before installation.

  • Inspect the material carefully before installation. If installation is not carried out by a certified Revesen installer, any defects or damage must be reported before installation. Post-installation claims will not be accepted.

  • Installation must be carried out by a qualified flooring professional. The installer should assess substrate strength, levelness, moisture protection, and thermal insulation. Any necessary adjustments must be made before laying the floor to ensure ideal hygroscopic balance between the room and the wood.

  • Recommended wood moisture: 9% ±2%

  • Air humidity: 45–55%

  • Substrate moisture: ≤2% for cement-based, ≤1.6% for heated cement, ≤0.5% for anhydrite.

  • The adhesive and subfloor must meet minimum strength: ≥35 MPa (compressive) and ≥3.5 N/mm² (shear).

  • Maximum subfloor unevenness: 5 mm per 2 linear meters.

  • Prime the subfloor with an appropriate primer before applying adhesive, following the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions.

  • Only polyurethane adhesives are approved for underfloor heating installations.

  • Allow for expansion gaps of approx. 5 mm per meter at all walls and door frames, with a minimum of 15 mm total.

  • The final finish may be oil, wax, or lacquer, using only high-quality products from certified manufacturers.

Underfloor Heating Warranty Conditions

We guarantee that Revesen flooring is compatible with underfloor heating, provided the following conditions are met:

  1. Maximum surface temperature must not exceed 26°C (78.8°F) at any point during use.

  2. Install temperature monitoring plugs beneath the floor to track temperature history.

  3. Installation must be carried out by a certified flooring contractor.

  4. Subfloor must meet all current industry standards for wooden floor installations.

  5. The surface must be sanded before installation.

  6. Use thermal indicators („temperature plugs”) to monitor heat exposure over time.

  7. Maintain ideal climate conditions in the room: air temperature 18–21°C and relative humidity 45–65%.

    • Higher humidity can cause swelling and cupping.

    • Low humidity can cause shrinkage and visible gaps — not subject to warranty claims.

  8. Flooring must be fully glued to the subfloor to ensure optimal thermal transfer and minimize expansion/shrinkage.

  9. Avoid covering heated wooden floors with rugs or mats, which may trap heat and lead to uneven expansion.

  10. During the heating season, use humidifiers to maintain the required humidity level.

Non-compliance with the above conditions will void any warranty claims.

Cleaning & Surface Maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance should follow the care instructions provided. Frequency of care depends on foot traffic. Daily maintenance includes sweeping or vacuuming to remove dust, sand, and dirt that could damage the floor.

Furniture legs should always be fitted with felt pads to prevent scratching.

For long-term protection, we recommend using only high-quality cleaning and care products from reputable manufacturers designed specifically for wood flooring — whether lacquered, oiled, or waxed. Do not use products containing silicones. Avoid allowing water to pool or remain on the floor surface.

Engineered wood flooring can be renovated multiple times through sanding and refinishing. The number of possible renovations depends on the thickness of the top layer and the condition of the floor prior to refinishing.

By following these recommendations, you significantly extend the service life of your Revesen wooden floor and reduce the impact of natural wood movement. Since indoor climate conditions are beyond the seller’s control, natural expansion or contraction of wood cannot be accepted as grounds for complaints.
